Injection Moulds

KOH-I-NOOR PONAS has long specialised in the complete design and manufacture of moulds for complex plastic parts, particularly for the automotive, electrical engineering and medical industries. Its in-house design department uses advanced CAD software, primarily SolidWorks and CATIA, and its designers have many years of experience in developing single-cavity and multi-cavity moulds, stack and tandem moulds, as well as moulds for two-component injection moulding (2K).

Each mould design is based on the customer’s specific requirements and supported by simulation analyses. Moldex3D software makes it possible to optimise parameters such as gate location, predict part deformation, analyse pressure conditions and identify weld lines even before the mould itself is manufactured. This ensures a precise design that is ready for series production without the need for unnecessary modifications.

Manufacturing takes place directly at the tool shop in Polička. Technologies employed include HSC milling, 5-axis machining, CNC electrical discharge machining (EDM), surface and cylindrical grinding, as well as precision measuring equipment. All injection moulds are subsequently tested on a dedicated trial press and then in the injection moulding facility, where their functionality and the quality of the moulded parts are verified. The result is a tool that meets customers’ stringent requirements and is designed for long-term operation in automated production environments.

Blow Moulds

Another important area of mould development and manufacturing at KOH-I-NOOR PONAS is blow moulds. These are designed and manufactured for extrusion blow moulding, injection blow moulding and stretch blow moulding technologies. Products manufactured using these moulds are widely used in the packaging industry, for example for plastic bottles, canisters and technical containers, as well as in the automotive and medical industries.

These moulds are manufactured in the same advanced production environment as injection moulds, benefiting from a high level of technical expertise and the skills of qualified and experienced specialists. Particular emphasis is placed on robustness, dimensional stability and the precision of functional components. PONAS blow moulds are designed with reliable long-term operation and the optimisation of production-line cycle times in mind.

During the pre-production phase of projects, PONAS provides customers with consulting services, development of engineering solutions and design support. The result is a tailor-made mould designed to handle high-volume production while consistently delivering stable output quality. As with injection moulds, comprehensive documentation and measurement reports are provided as standard, together with the option of fine-tuning the mould directly on the company’s trial presses.
