The plastic injection moulding facility at KOH-I-NOOR PONAS is a modern, fully automated production operation specialising in the injection moulding of engineering thermoplastics for demanding applications in the automotive, electrical engineering, cosmetics, consumer goods and medical industries.
The production facility operates nearly 50 injection moulding machines with clamping forces ranging from 25 to 2,000 tonnes, including two-component (2K) machines for multi-component parts. Machines from Arburg, KraussMaffei, ENGEL and Sumitomo (SHI) Demag are equipped with robotic handling systems for the automated removal, insertion and transfer of moulded parts to subsequent operations. The facility is also equipped with VARIOTHERM temperature control systems.
Materials processed include PA66, POM, ABS, PC, PBT, PPS, PET, PEI and other engineering plastics, often reinforced or filled to achieve specific properties – for example, with glass fibres to improve mechanical performance or graphite to provide thermal conductivity. Production focuses on precision plastic components with tight tolerances, often incorporating metal inserts.
The injection moulding facility also includes dedicated inspection and assembly stations for operations such as leak testing, laser marking, pad printing and component assembly. An in-house metrology centre is equipped with 3D measuring systems, optical measuring equipment, a surface roughness tester and a tensile testing machine.
Production is managed using the Pharis MES system, which provides real-time monitoring of manufacturing processes, quality control and maintenance. This ensures full traceability of every manufactured part throughout the production process – from the mould through to final shipment.
